Reflection #5: Bongwonsa Temple and Nature Walk

Some of the Taoism beliefs are harmony, wu-wei, and going with the flow and accepting things as they happen rather than pursuing power and wealth. From the nature walk, I came to realize that nature already has those components. In other words, nature has everything that it is hard to acquire for human, and I think that is why nature prompts humans to seek out the religion. Before, I could not understand why people take time to spend time for religion. However, I learned that religion is the way to seek the answer to the mystery of life and to know about him/herself more deeply. At the Bongwonsa temple, the monk explained us about 10 pictures which are representing the process of how a person reaches nirvana. From that, I thought that attaining nirvana is the fight between a person and the person’s mind such as greed, and the person realizes that what he/she wanted to have before is not actually necessary for the person. So, by believing religions, people come to know their minds deeply and know the meaning of life. I think that humans are weak and do not know almost nothing about spiritual stuff at first. However, they learn about those and become mentally and spiritually strong as they come to know about the world and about themselves. In fact, more than 80% of the world population has religions, and I think that this fact is proving how much religion is important for human.
